“Beer: the reason I wake up every afternoon” is both a tchotchke slogan and the inspiration behind the name of Breakfast Beers, the Boston-based band formed by Johann Blackwell, Rachel Lightman, Ryan Schwartz, and Hayden Budofsky. Rooted in sludge metal- and inspired by the likes of Butthole Surfers, Led Zeppelin, Smashing Pumpkins, and Misfits -Breakfast Beers blends the diverse musical backgrounds of its members into a unique sound that genre bends between metal, blues, and shoegaze. Formed after about six months of natural musical chemistry and several successful jam sessions, the band eventually entered into and won a battle of the bands competition through Northeastern University and signed to Green Line Records. Breakfast Beers aims to do two things: make seriously good music based on unserious and silly pretenses, maintaining their commitment to fun while sonically exploring heavy brooding territories.
